30th birthday inspiration

Welcome to Things that make your heart sing. My main blog Charles Whyte documents my own journey of finding all the things in life that make my heart sing, mostly interiors, home projects, baking, eating out and the odd book or ode to fashion. I started this offshoot blog as I've begun to wonder if the name is more appropriate for my blog. I'm not sure how I will use it as yet. For now I'm going to use it for some photos of party ideas that make my heart sing.

My 30th birthday is fast approaching and I'm hurridly trying to organise a venue and invitations. Food will be French inspired with lots of cakes and sweets to conjure a little Marie Antoinette and her supposed cry of "Let them eat cake". Colours will be pink or red and blue/turquoise. I'm thinking vintage elegance but I'd like a sense of old-fashioned fun!

A dessert table is an absolute MUST! Also considering the tissue balls from the ceiling. They may be more suited to children but what the heck. I want this to be a little dream party for me with no holding back.

Love silhouettes and feathers too. So refined!

Flowers will have to feature and lollies in the colour theme may also be a great addition to the dessert table.

Ooh, blackboards, French words and tea in the garden. Perfection.

A ruffle cake - so pretty.

Must get another glass dome.

Hydrangeas are one of my all-time favourite blooms.

I'm hungry and excited just looking at these pictures.
